Take a closer look! Are the safety devices on your machine tool still intact?

By purchasing and correctly installing a safety device, you have already taken the first step toward ensuring maximum safety for your machines. However, don’t forget that protective equipment also needs to be checked regularly for significant contamination and damage.

In addition to the sturdy steel casing, many machine safety guards feature a polycarbonate window. Polycarbonate has proven to be highly effective in machine safety and, when properly installed in its new condition, offers higher retention capacity than most other comparable transparent materials.

But beware — polycarbonate panes are still sensitive! Exposure to UV light, coolant emulsions, or improper cleaning agents can attack the protective sheets, often invisibly to the naked eye. Over time, the pane may become brittle and fail to meet necessary safety requirements. Since ageing and embrittlement are usually not detectable through visual inspection, regular replacement is essential.

Therefore, we recommend:

✔ Regularly check your polycarbonate windscreen for obvious defects.
It must not have any scratches, changes in the material, cracks, etc.

✔ Keep track of the service life of your polycarbonate panes.
The recommended replacement interval for polycarbonate panes is every two years.

✔ Make sure to clean polycarbonate panes using the correct methods and suitable cleaning agents.
Incorrect cleaning products can gradually alter polycarbonate, turning it into a glass-like material over time.

>>> If your polycarbonate pane exhibits any of the defects mentioned above or is older than two years, we recommend replacing it as soon as possible.

We will be happy to send you a quote for a suitable replacement polycarbonate pane for your safety guard.
