Measure, calculate, install – our service for your lathe
Lack of machine safety is a critical issue, especially with aging equipment. If not already done, older machine tools should be retrofitted as soon as possible. On the one hand, to comply with legal requirements and avoid liability cases or penalties. More importantly: all employees – from inexperienced trainees to seasoned professionals – must be protected from injuries by every possible means!
We cannot stress this enough – please contact us before an accident happens.
When retrofitting an older lathe for safety, it is essential to carefully document the dimensions, the control electronics, and any modifications to the specific model. This should never be taken lightly, even with well-known brands. Only through precise measurement and recording of special features can we ensure that the safety guard later fits correctly – without compromising operator comfort!
Measure your lathe yourself and order the safety guard online
To save time and keep costs low, you can generally measure your lathe yourself and retrofit it independently. MOWOTAS GmbH supports you: In our online shop, you will find standard safety guards in various sizes and shapes as well as practical mounting brackets. We also offer personal advice on products and applicable regulations – by phone or email.
Nevertheless, we understand that many customers request on-site support, especially when it is unclear which type of safety guard is needed or when machine operators are skeptical. In such cases, we always try to make it possible for an experienced colleague to visit your workshop.
Behind the scenes of a customer visit with our colleague
Careful documentation makes it easier for us to determine the right safety guard. In the video, you can see our employee measuring a lathe of the type TOS SN 55 and photographing relevant areas. Based on this information, it was easy for him to select the correct product and plan the subsequent installation. In this case, there were no structural changes to the lathe, so we were able to offer standard sizes and keep the installation effort within reasonable limits.
Do you have a unique machine? We can get creative.
Sometimes, you encounter machines for which no standard solution exists in the catalog. In these cases, only a custom design will do – and we are happy to provide it. To ensure a perfect fit, the first step is to measure the lathe precisely. All relevant dimensions – such as chuck diameter, distances to other components, and potential mounting points – are recorded. Only with this information can a safe and functional retrofit be carried out.
Occasionally, minor structural adjustments or the fabrication of an on-site adapter may be needed to install the safety guard, but this is usually clear in advance and discussed with you.
